Make Your Own Magnetic Beer Hanger with First4Magnets.com
Happy National Beer Day! What a time to be alive where beer has it’s own day!
Do we have you intrigued? Below we’ll explain what National Beer Day is, where it came from and how you can get involved with a step by step guide on creating your own magnetic beer hanger! Enjoy the read and maybe drink a cold one as you go?
So, what is National Beer Day? Simply put, on June 15th the people of Britain come together to celebrate the alcoholic drink and “spread beery love throughout the land” as quoted by Beer Day Britain!
Where did National Beer Day come from and why is it celebrated on June 15th? In year 1215, on this day the Magna Carta was sealed and in Article 35 it stated:
Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn, namely the London quarter.
Alcohol was apparently so important at this time that it was mentioned in one of the most significant legal documents ever created. To this day, alcohol is still a popular social aspect for British people.
How can you get involved? Beer Day Britain invite you to say #CheersToBeers by raising an alcoholic beverage on June 15th at 7pm and posting a picture to social media. Don’t forget to use the hashtag!
Here at First4Magnets.com, the team have put together a handy step by step guide on how to create a magnetic beer holder in your fridge! It’s quick, cheap and easy to do! Let’s go…
Step 1) Here’s what you’ll need to create your own magnetic beer hanger:
- 2 self adhesive foam pads (available at your local craft stores)
- An F606 Neodymium Pot Magnet from our website available from £4.32 + delivery
- Your favourite beers, lager or ale! We’re using a bottle of Beck’s
Note: 1 magnet per bottle and you’ll need 2 foam pads for every magnet.
Step 2) Peel off the covers on one side of the 2 adhesive pads. Carefully stick one pad to one half of the pot magnet and the other pad to the other half. Be sure to stick the pads to the side of the magnet with the hole because we want the flat surface visible to the bottle top. Once this is complete, peel off the remaining covers on the top side of the pads. See the image below as an example…
Step 3) Next, stick your magnet and the attached adhesive sheets to the top of the fridge. Make sure there is enough room for the bottle to hang below. Press it in place and leave to set for 24 hours! We’ve only done it once but you could in fact build enough magnetic holders for a 6 pack!
Step 4) It’s time to add your beer bottle! Slowly raise it towards the magnet and as it gets closer you will feel the magnetism begin to attract. Ensure the centre of the bottle top sits flat against the magnet and then remove your hand slowly, just in case!
Please be warned, this will not work with all magnets. Some magnets are weaker than others and you need a magnet with sufficient pull strength to hold the bottle in place. We’re using a 275ml bottle that weighs 450g. Our neodymium pot magnet has a pull strength of 15KG which is more than enough to hold this type of bottle in place! If you need any advice on which magnets support what weight, call our Customer Care Team on 0845 519 4701 and they will be happy to advise.
Step 5) Once you’ve left you bottles to chill, it’s time for you to enjoy a nice cold beer! To remove your bottles, place one hand at the neck of the bottle and slide it to one side. Please don’t pull directly down as it is 5 times harder to pull an object perpendicularly away from a magnet than it is to slide it! This will put unnecessary strain on the magnet and the adhesive. See below as we slide our Beck’s bottle away from the magnet…
So, there we have it, your very own magnetic beer hanger for your fridge! We hope you’ve enjoyed the read and if you want to give it a go, these magnets are available for £4.32 each or £14.83 for a pack of 4; this makes them £3.71 which is a saving of 61p per magnet! Once you’ve built your own hanger send us a picture on social media, we’d love to see your creations.
