Car manufacturer Ford has filed a new patent and it may just be the change you\u2019ve been waiting for since you passed your driving test. Ford recently filed a patent application for a magnetic bed to keep items secure in the bed of trucks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports from Motor Authority<\/a>, the patent shows an attractive design that would allow Fords pickup trucks to literally keep things together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design uses between four and six magnets, embedded in the truck’s bed. These magnets would be able to be moved, either manually or with servos, the magnets would also be able to be switched on and off individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although it would be amazing for truck owners to fill the bed of their truck with tools and not have to worry about a loose spanner or hammer flying out onto the road, there is no guarantee that we will see a magnetic truck bed in production any time soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nNew Magnetic Tie-Down System<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another part of Ford\u2019s patent application shows a magnetic\ntie-down system, which would be used in estate cars and vans rather than pickup\ntrucks. A magnetic tie-down system would allow extra magnets to be placed in\nnecessary areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If this idea came to life, it could potentially allow vehicle owners to move magnets around the cabin or boot of your van or car. These magnets would need to be incredibly strong, to prevent items from becoming loose in the vehicle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
