These are the largest of our Neodymium counter-bored pot magnet range. Neodymium pot magnets are made of a powerful Neodymium magnet sunken in to a steel shell meaning that the north pole is on the centre of the magnetic face and the south pole is on the outer edge around it. The steel pot increases the adhesive force of the magnets giving them an incredible hold for their size. An added advantage of pot magnets is that they are resistant to chipping or cracking following constant impact with a steel surface. These magnets are counter-bored on the magnetic face and can be fixed to a surface with an 8mm screw, pot magnets are also available with countersinks and threaded studs. These magnets come with a safe-handling warning; because they are so powerful they can be dangerous if not handled carefully.
We use this magnet in sports surface testing equipment in order to lift and drop a 46kg mass onto a surface from a hydraulic ram.
This now replaces an electromagnet that was always on during use and had significantly derated over time. It also saves significant portable battery power which was previously used.
Heed the warnings on the box - we have encased this magnet in a protective housing so that hands and such like cant get near the magnet or its movement height along the ram. It will "jump" the 46kg mass up from about 7mm clear of its surface.
