Diametrically magnetized magnets are specially manufactured to produce rotational movement, rather than the maximum holding strength for the size of the magnet. Each of our diametrically magnetized circular disc magnets are magnetized across their diameters, so that the north pole is on one curved side and the south pole is on the opposite curved side. They are commonly used on the end of a shaft to provide drive or to produce a magnetic rack and pinion system by using one magnet working with a line of north and south alternating pole magnets.
