Coated with three layers of nickel, copper and nickel to reduce corrosion and provide a smooth finish
These Neodymium rings are identical in size and shape to our F2516 ring magnets. They can be used with the F2516 ring magnets to demonstrate how the intriguing 'eddy currents' produced by a magnet and copper pipe create a damping effect. A non-magnetic ring will slide down a length of copper pipe in an instant but the magnetised variation will descend slowly. A great way to bring magnets to life in the classroom.

Perfect for my use!
Put the balls inside a toirrd shaped coil (bundle) of wire (that is the usual shape) Discharge a large capacitor through the wire. It only takes a few millisecond to magnetize the balls. Neil
