Flexible magnets contain magnetic particles captive inside a flexible polymer binder. Flexible magnets are used for unique applications that would not be possible using other ‘hard’ magnets.
Did you know? |
Generally, flexible magnets have a maximum energy product of 0.6MGOe to 1.6MGOe, this is poor compared to neodymium magnets at 42.0MGOe but whilst their magnetic power is small per cm2, when utilised over a large contact area, a considerable force can be generated, enough to securely hold magnetic signs to the side of a car or van at speeds up to 100mph!
There are two different categories of flexible magnets – magnetic sheet and extruded magnetic profiles.
