MEASURING GUIDE
The combination of a magnetic strip and a steel strip together will securely hold the acrylic panels in place, with each MagFlex® magnetic strip having a pulling force of 40g/cm2. Our secondary glazing kits are manufactured at the highest standards. All acrylic panels, magnetic strips, and steel strips are pre-cut to the correct size and are ready to install.
Please see below for further information on how to measure your secondary glazing kit based on your window type.
SASH WINDOWS

When measuring for magnetic secondary glazing on sash windows, it is important to recognise the staff bead, which is the round-faced baton that runs all around the box frame and holds the two sliding sections in place. Our magnetic panels will be attached to the box frame with magnetic tape, applied on the outside and beyond the staff bead.
If you don't need to open the window, a single panel can be applied up to max 1.5m2. Our magnetic secondary glazing kits use 20mm wide magnetic tape and steel tape on all sides.
To measure for your panel, take the tape measure and hold it at the 20mm mark on the scale. Overlap the staff bead by that amount, and extend tape measure until it overlaps the staff bead on the other side by another 20mm. Make note of the measurement and repeat this for the height, allowing for 5mm between the trim and the edge of the window.
CASEMENT WINDOWS

The magnets create a strong perimeter seal around the edge of the panel, and fit flush against the window frame. As such, any window furniture such as handles and latches must be contained within the cavity in order for the panel to sit flush.
Measure from one edge of the window frame to the other to get the approximate width and repeat this for the height. Make note of each measurement, as well as multiplying the values together to get the approximate area, as this will determine the fixing type for your panel/s.
Take your tape measure and hold it at the 20mm mark on the scale. Overlap the edge of the window frame by that amount and extend until it overlaps the opposite edge by another 20mm. Read this measurement, allowing for a small gap between the trim and the edge of the window of up to 5mm if possible. Repeat the process to get the height.

MAGNETIC FIXING
A magnetic fitting is perfect for windows under 1.5m2 and can be easily removed when needed. Utilising adhesive backed Steel tape that is applied to the window frame and magnetic tape that is built into the frame that can then be applied on top for a secure hold.
MECHANICAL FIXING
If your window measures larger than 1.5m2, we recommend a more permanent fixing that utilises our trim that is required to be screwed into place on the window frame. Due to the width of the mechanical trim, please reduce 10mm from the width & height measurements. Please note, this is only suitable for wooden window frame.
For sizes above 1.5m2, a mechanical fixing is required.
HOW TO INSTALL YOUR KIT

Remove steel strips from plastic edging, simply pull away.

Remove the protective layer and fit steel strips in the correct
place on your wall or window frame using adhesive backing.
Press each piece firmly against the surface and secure its
position by pressing and running your finger down the center
of each strip.

Once all steel strips are fitted correctly, please remove the
protective layer from the front face of the steel strip.

Place your secondary glazing sheet up against your window,
to test if the plastic stripping lines up correctly.

Ensure each magnetic strip is fitted securely by pressing and
running your finger down the center of each strip.

Finally, gently place the glazing sheet on the steel strips and
slowly move the panel into place and allow the magnetic strip
to attract to the steel strips.
