What Are The Different Types Of Magnets?

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGNETS?
There are three different types of magnets: Permanent Magnets, Temporary Magnets, and Electromagnets.
PERMANENT MAGNETS
A Permanent Magnet is a magnet that are ‘always on’, they generate their own persistent magnetic field. A force that pulls on other ferromagnetic materials.
TEMPORARY MAGNETS
Temporary Magnets are magnets that only act like magnets when close to a permanent magnet or current. Once pulled away, they lose their magnetism.
ELECTROMAGNETS MAGNETS
An Electromagnet is made from a coil of wire wrapped around a ferrous core and requires an electric current to generate a magnetic field.
WHICH MAGNETS ARE ALWAYS MAGNETIC?

EXAMPLES OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGNETS

EXAMPLES OF PERMANENT MAGNETS INCLUDE:
- Ferrite
- Alnico
- Neodymium
EXAMPLES OF TEMPORARY MAGNETS INCLUDE:
- Iron
- Cobalt
- Nickle
EXAMPLES OF ELECTROMAGNETS INCLUDE:
- Resistant
- Superconductors
- Hybrids
WHERE ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGNETS USED?

MAGNETS COME IN VARIOUS FORMS EACH WITH UNIQUE PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS
Each type of magnet serves distinct functions based on its magnetic permanence and strength.
The most well known application of a Permanent Magnet, is the common fridge magnet. However permanent magnets are used for a huge range of applications, for example Alnico magnets are known for their high temperature stability and are commonly used in industrial applications.
Temporary Magnets, like iron and nickel, are used in applications like magnetic separators and temporary holding devices. A great example of this could be a magnetic knife or tool rack, where the item you are hanging acts as a temporary magnet.
Electromagnets are employed in various devices, such as headphones, electric doorbells, and cranes for lifting heavy metal objects.
